Toto jest opravdu posvícení pro ty nejnáročnější fanoušky Tolkienova díla. Velká kniha podrobně popisující závratné množství míst a krajů Ardy. Je zde dokonce popis cest různých postav, popis válečných tažení, migrace národů. Kniha je především pro lidi toužící po rafinovaném množství informací, kteří navíc umí lépe anglicky.
Početné ilustrace map jsou schematické a ručně kreslené, obsahují šipky směrů armád, průřezy země atd.. Nejedná se tedy o knihu pro kochání se nad ilustracemi malovaných barevných map, ale pro zaryté fandy toužící po každé kapce loru a dat napříč celou historií Tolkienova smyšleného univerza.
